Do you want to start a backyard chicken flock? Do you already have urban chickens and want to learn more and meet fellow chicken keepers? Join us for an evening workshop on September 25, 5-7pm. 

Wayne Martin, Alternative Livestock Systems Educator from UMN Extension and Nancy Engberg from Minneapolis Animal Care and Control will discuss the basics of urban chicken keeping including coop design, bedding, feed, breed selection, chicken health, city requirements and predator protection. 

Our neighbors at Urban Tails pet supply will be on hand with samples of local Powderhorn chicken feed and product giveaways.  

Weather permitting, we will have some guest chickens in the Common Roots Cafe garden demonstrating how to integrate chickens for pest management, fertilizing and weed control.

Common Roots will provide refreshments from our delicious seasonal menu, along with happy hour drink specials for purchase.
