Check Out Our 2026 Partners!

January: Safe Hands Rescue

Safe Hands is a unique dog and cat rescue with a direct line to stray and surrendered pets in Kentucky. Their work has helped reduce euthanasia rates from 90% to just 10% at one rescue partner. The sad truth is that the South has far more stray animals than we do up north. Safe Hands transports dogs and cats from overcrowded Kentucky shelters into Minnesota foster homes, where they can find loving forever families.

February: Rabbit Rescue of MN

Rabbit Rescue of MN is a rabbit-specific, foster-based rescue focused on rescuing and providing veterinary care for sick, abused, neglected, abandoned, and unwanted domestic rabbits. They also accept rabbits surrendered by the public. In addition, RRMN hosts “Romp and Spa” events offering nail trims and bunny playdates (SO cute!).

March: MAARS (Midwest Parrot Sanctuary & Rescue)

MAARS is a rare, bird-focused organization, and we’re thrilled to support their mission. They care for a sanctuary flock at their facility, The Landing, while also educating the public, parrot guardians, and the veterinary community about the unique challenges faced by captive parrots.

April: MNSNAP (Minnesota Spay & Neuter Assistance Program)

MNSNAP’s mission is to ensure that all cats and dogs in Minnesota have access to essential veterinary care, including spay and neuter services. They provide low-cost surgeries for personal pets, community cats, and animals awaiting adoption through local rescues. They are an absolutely essential service, and we’re proud to partner with them.

May: Minnesota Pocket Pet Rescue

Not many states can boast a rescue dedicated to pocket-sized pets! MNPPR is a completely volunteer-run, foster-based rescue is committed to small animal care and education. Looking for a chinchilla, degu, ferret, gerbil, guinea pig, hamster, hedgehog, mouse, rabbit, rat, or sugar glider? This is the rescue for you.

June: MARS (Midwest Animal Rescue & Services)

Another MARS? Yep! MARS is a dog and cat foster-based rescue that also offers affordable veterinary services and obedience training. Their mission is to serve both pets and their people by connecting, healing, and empowering the community—while finding homes for animals who were once lost, left behind, or forgotten.

July: Pet Project Rescue

Founded in 2008, Pet Project Rescue supports TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) efforts for feral cat populations in Minnesota and for community animals in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Because truly feral cats cannot safely live indoors, TNR programs are critical for maintaining healthy community cat populations while reducing repopulation.

August: Bitty Kitty Brigade

The Bitty Kitty Brigade is a foster-based rescue serving orphaned neonatal kittens in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. They provide specialized care for kittens ages 0–6 weeks who are without mothers or not yet eating on their own, as well as families where the mother cat cannot fully provide care. Plus, their Instagram and Facebook content is extremely cute—go give them a follow!

September: Healing Hearts Rescue

Healing Hearts Rescue is a longtime partner of Urban Tails. They are a dog-specific, foster-based rescue offering adoption services throughout the Twin Cities area.

October: No Kitten Left Behind – MN

No Kitten Left Behind (NKLB) is a cat-specific, foster-based rescue in St. Paul providing rescue and adoption services throughout the Twin Cities. NKLB occasionally hosts adoption events at Urban Tails—check our events page to see what’s coming up!
Fun fact: Our manager, Jess, adopted her sweet calico cat, Muggy, from NKLB in October 2019. Featuring NKLB in October is Jess’s way of saying thank you for bringing her the most perfect cat to ever exist 😺

November: North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center

Urban Tails is NMPRC’s biggest fan! North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center believes that access to pet food and supplies should never prevent someone from experiencing the companionship of a pet. Their programs support community members facing financial stress—without income or residency requirements—by providing pet food, supplies, and resources through community-based volunteers.

December: Mission Animal Hospital

Mission Animal Hospital is the only nonprofit, full-service animal hospital in the U.S. dedicated to making veterinary care accessible for all families. Their mission ensures that every family can live their best life with their pet, regardless of financial barriers.
